That is why EcoToto focuses on both sustainable diaper solutions and accessible digital education.

During my first ward rounds as a pharmacy student, I observed a baby who seemed restless and uncomfortable. Later, I learned the baby was experiencing diaper rash, a common issue affecting infants worldwide.
That moment sparked a bigger question: how do diaper choices impact health, cost, and the environment? Through research and conversations with parents and caregivers, I discovered a major gap across Africa: diapers are expensive, scarce in villages, and often not safe for babies’ delicate skin.
Africa has fewer than 10 major diaper manufacturers, and many struggle to access suitable fabrics for production. Even though we produce raw materials like cotton and bamboo, these must be processed into specialized fabrics and are often imported at high cost.
At the 2025 SDG Olympiad in Geneva, our project Wetlands4Wellness placed first runners-up among 50 global teams, proving that human and environmental health are inseparable. EcoToto was born from this purpose: creating eco-friendly diapers, educating parents, and empowering women through local jobs.
In the next five years, EcoToto aims to grow into a leading African model for sustainable baby care, research, and digital health education.
